As with most activities, true comfort and safety on the water are only guaranteed by using the proper accessories.
On the water, these include:
Waterproof luggage – dry bags and boat bags
Essential for river trips. For both longer and day trips, you need to transport dry documents, money, car keys, sleeping bags, a change of clothes, and food.
Pumps
These are needed when paddling on inflatable boats or rafts. You will receive your boat inflated from us, but once you come ashore—especially in warm weather—you must reinflate it. Before boarding, you need to top it up because a soft boat does not paddle well.
Inflatable Bags for Kayaks
These are an important safety device, especially for kayaks. Inflated bags prevent a large amount of water from entering the boat if it capsizes, thus helping to prevent sinking. A floating boat is then easier to recover and bail out; it also reduces the chance of the boat getting caught or damaged by rocks while paddling. They are very useful—and on wild water, absolutely essential—for WW2-class rivers and heavier flows.
Spray Decks
These cover openings on the boat’s deck to prevent splashing and water ingress. They are used for kayaks and closed canoes.
Throw Bags, Ropes, and Carabiners
These are emergency rescue materials that you must know how to use in a crisis. They are intended for rescuing people and equipment from a river or a weir.
On Tourist Boats
A rope is often used to tie the boat to the shore or for towing – pulling the boat along the shore with the current. We do not rent ropes. When placing a rope in the boat, be careful how you stow it; tangling can cause serious problems in a capsize. Never tie children or animals into the boat—only secure items exceptionally.
5L DRY BAG
A plastic dry bag for documents, a snack, and other small items. These bags are rented exclusively by our boat rental on the Ohře and Malý Dunaj rivers.
50L DRY BAG
A plastic dry bag with a wide neck and handles. It opens and closes easily and quickly, is durable, and seals well. Two such bags fit in every type of canoe we rent. Approximately four fit in rafts, depending on occupancy and comfort requirements.
BOAT BAG
A waterproof, sealable bag made of sturdy rubberized fabric with a volume of 80 L and straps for carrying on your back. When packing, storing, or handling the boat bag, always be careful of sharp edges and objects.
SMALL BOAT BAG
A waterproof bag with a volume of 5 L suitable for packing a snack, documents, and other important small items. It can also fit under the seat of a kayak.
PUMP
A dual-function pump for all types of inflatable canoes. Manufactured by the Italian company Bravo, with a capacity of 4 L.
INFLATABLE BAG FOR KAYAK
A rubber inflatable bag to prevent sinking, with a tube and a swivel valve. It is inflated by mouth. For a kayak, two bags are required for the back; for large kayaks on heavy or very watery rivers, we even recommend a bag for the bow. Otherwise, the boat will “stand up” while floating, it will wear out unnecessarily, and will be difficult to recover. Watch out for sharp objects inside the boat. Always check and top up the bag before setting out. We offer three sizes of bags – narrow, short and long for the back; short and wide for the bow.
SPRAY DECKS
We only rent neoprene spray decks. For children and sea conditions, they can also be made of plastex. If you rent a kayak or a closed canoe as a set, you will automatically receive a spray deck with the boat; you may write your body circumference in the order note so we can choose the correct one. If you rent a kayak separately, do not forget the spray deck. Even on completely calm water, you may splash water onto your feet and into the boat, leaving you sitting in a puddle. Many beginners worry that if they capsize while using a spray deck, they won’t be able to get out of the boat. Our spray decks are not so rigid as to keep you in; moreover, each one has a loop at the front from which you can pull it out, or a bail strap that will allow your legs to pull it out of the boat if they fall. Spray decks marked with a number indicating body circumference are rented with Noah kayaks and can be used on small Pyranha and Jackson models as well. Yak Extra Big spray decks hold well on large kayaks such as the Raptor, Shiva, Burn, Nano, Karnali, and Hero. If you are going on a gentle river and are unsure, ordering the Universal spray deck will cause no harm. Under this label are hidden NoName spray decks that are very flexible and can be used on all types of boats.
THROW BAG
The throw bag is a rescue device consisting of a lightweight, strong rope wound up inside a bag made of rubberized canvas. It is designed for rescuing people and equipment from the water. Before use, you should soak the rope yourself to ensure that it will not snag during use. We rent a 15-meter throw bag and one 20-meter bag. When using a throw bag on wild water, you should also have a carabiner and a knife in case you need to cut it off. We do not rent this material.
